The Vows

Okay, here we are at the most important part of the ceremony.... the vows.
I promise - they are not nearly as scary to write as you might think!
Some of you already know exactly what you want to say, and that's brill.  For those of you who have no clue where to start, below is a template for your to work off.  Of course, you are not restricted to this at all.  It just helps to provide a formula for those who aren't sure how long they should be or what exactly you should include.

Please, please, please, contact me at any point if there's anything I can do to make it easier or simpler for you.  It just takes a bit of thinking about exactly what it is you want to promise to this person standing in front of you.  This is your chance to make those promises that will make you the best version of yourself that you can be.
Oh, and in all the seriousness, try to have a little fun ;)

I call upon all persons present

to witness that I Jane Mary Brown,

Take you John Paul Smith,

To be my lawfully wedded husband.

It took a while for you to win me over, but

I'm so glad now that you did.

You are patient, funny, and loyal, and

You have made me feel so loved.

You are my favourite person in the whole world.

I love how you treat your family, your work ethic, and your terrible dad jokes.

I look forward to our future of travel, fun, and adventure.

Today, I commit myself to you as your wife.

I vow to be loyal to you through good and bad.

I promise to go on date nights at least once a fortnight.

I promise to exercise with you more often and to try not to scream at you when you push me further with the exercise.

I commit to creating a beautiful home and family with you.

And above all, I vow to be the best partner that I can be.

I love you, and I'm so excited to finally be your wifey.

I call upon all persons present

To witness that I, Julian Toby Griffin,

Take you, Louise Ann Harper,

To be my lawfully wedded wife.

Lou, when I first met you, I just thought you were pretty hot, and I never would have guessed that I was meeting my future wife.

Today, I can’t believe that I didn’t always know that.

You are the funniest and kindest person I know.

You have made me a better, stronger, and more capable human being.

You are my person, and the one with whom I want to grow old.

I love your generosity, your sense of humour, and when you tackle me and call it a cuddle.

I look forward to watching our children grow and turn into little versions of you.

Today, I commit to spending my life as your partner in crime.

I vow to stand by you through good times and bad. Always.

I promise to cook you breakfast when you are hung over and do the scrambled eggs the way you like them with cream instead of milk.

I promise to mow the lawn more often and not grill you so much on what you bought when you were shopping.

I promise to be honest with you, and to not sweat the small stuff.

And above all, I vow to always make our wellbeing my first and biggest priority.

You and me, together forever.  This is it.

I call upon all persons present

to witness that I Jackie Sarah Jones,

Take you Christopher Andrew Jenkins,

To be my lawfully wedded husband.

From the moment we met, you have made me laugh and been a constant source of support.

I can’t think of a more perfect person to spend my life with.

You are loyal, strong, modest, and generous.

I have seen the best of you and the worst of you.

I understand with perfect clarity who you are and, with perfect clarity, I accept you.

I love that we share the same family values and, although I don’t love it, I do accept that you are usually right.

Today, I vow to share my future with you, and to

Be the best parts of me that fit perfectly with the best parts of you.

I promise to always laugh with you, and only occasionally at you.

I promise to work at our love and to give you the freedom to be your own person.

I commit to building a life that we can both be proud of.

And above all, I look forward to growing old with you and staying, together,

Forever Foolish. (This was the theme to their wedding and also their cake topper)

Vow Inspiration...

Below are some examples of my favourite vows.  Take whatever parts you like and compile your own unique vows!  Or you can take your favourite lines, send them my way, and I will compile them into vows for you.

I promise to participate fully in our marriage with love and respect.
Before these witnesses I vow to love you and care for you as long as we both shall live.  I take you, with all your faults and strengths, as I offer myself to you with all my faults and strengths.  I will help you when you need help, and turn to you when I need help.

I choose you as the person with whom I will spend my life.

I offer myself to you as your friend, your sweetheart, your lifelong companion. I will share with you, build dreams with you and always support you. I will stick with you when times are good as well as when times are bad. I will make you smile when you cry and hold you as you laugh.
I promise to make your plans and dreams as important as my own.
I had to wait a long time to find you and now I realise that everything in my past led me to you - my choices, my heartbreaks, everything. And as I stand here today, I know it was all worth it. Because if I had done even one thing differently, I might never have met you.
I will trust you and honor you. I will laugh with you and cry with you. I will love you faithfully through the best and the worst, through the difficult and the easy.
I now give myself to you. I promise to love you and care for you, to respect and to honour you, to share my life completely with you, to be faithful and true to you, from this day forward.
I will cherish our friendship and love you today, tomorrow, and forever.
May we love one another with constancy, live with resiliance, laugh freely, and support our marriage through the trials and triumphs to come.
I make a promise to you today to continue to inspire and challenge you, to encourage you to grow and fulfil your dreams. I will always treat you with love, respect and tenderness. I promise to bring honesty, strength and imagination into our relationship and create a home filled with love, laughter, family and friends. Your happiness is my happiness; I love you and will do forever.
What may come I will always be there. As I have given you my hand to hold, so I give you my life to keep.
I vow to cherish and honor you, all the days of my life, in sickness and in health.
I will love you when the sun rises and I will love you equally as much when the sun sets. You are my best friend, my confidante, my teacher, my love, but most of all you are my better half. As long as you are with me there’s no place I’d rather be.
I promise to be gentle and kind to you. To show you the same un-ending patience you show me. To always respect your opinions as you respect mine. I want to learn life’s lessons with you, and share as many adventure together as we can squeeze into our lives
When our way becomes difficult , I promise to stand by you, so that through our union we can accomplish more than we could alone. I promise to work at our love and always make you my priority in life. This is my solemn vow.
From this moment, I take you as my best friend and soul mate for life. I pledge to honour, encourage, and support you through our life together.
Before I met you, I thought I was content with the world. Now I know that there so much more to learn, to explore and to experience. Because of you I see the world as a place of endless possibilities.
I promise to always encourage you, to be the rock that you can lean on.
You are the most precious thing to me because you know my mistakes and my flaws and you still love me and accept me without trying to change these things.
I promise to love you, to cherish you and to grow old with you. I promise to be there for you as your best friend, both in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for the good times and the bad until death do us part.
